It is hard to drive 20 minutes in the Laurentians without passing a Dodge Grand Caravan. Built for decades at the Windsor, Ontario plant, it established itself as the best-selling family minivan in Canada, and therefore one of the most common on the Quebec used market. For a family in Saint-Eustache, Mirabel or Saint-Jérôme looking for 7 seats without blowing the budget, it is often the logical first choice.
Its trump card remains the Stow 'n Go system: the 2nd- and 3rd-row seats fold flat into the floor in seconds, without having to take the seats out of the vehicle. For hauling IKEA furniture on a Saturday and the kids to hockey on Sunday, no other used minivan in this price range offers that versatility. If the Grand Caravan is exactly what you need, have a look at our dedicated page on used minivans and our full inventory.
Dodge covers a wide range: from the practical family vehicle to the American muscle car. Here are the models we see most often north of Montreal.
The engine that comes up most often in the modern Dodge lineup is the 3.6L Pentastar V6, found in the Grand Caravan, Charger, Durango and Journey. It is a proven engine with no big surprises when maintenance has been followed: oil at the right intervals, cooling system monitored, spark plugs replaced when due. The HEMI V8 versions need a little more attention (MDS system, oil consumption to watch), but reward you with their character.
In Quebec, the real enemy is not the engine, it is road salt. On a Laurentian Dodge that has seen several winters, we always take a close look at the underbody, wheel wells and brake lines. And this is non-negotiable: from December 1 to March 15, certified winter tires with the mountain/snowflake symbol are mandatory, especially relevant for a rear-wheel-drive Charger, which becomes far more dramatic on snow without the right rubber.
Buying from a dealership rather than a private seller changes the game. First, the legal warranty provided by the Consumer Protection Act applies according to the age and mileage of the vehicle, protection a private seller simply does not offer. We explain it clearly in our guide to the LPC warranty on used vehicles.
Next, on taxes, the advantage is concrete when you trade in your current vehicle: the value of your trade-in is deducted from the taxable amount, which reduces the GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) you pay. With a private seller, you pay the QST to the SAAQ on the full value. Every Dodge on our lot goes through a complete mechanical inspection before going on sale, backed by a CARFAX report. We serve all of the area north of Montreal: Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Deux-Montagnes, Saint-Eustache, Boisbriand, Blainville, Sainte-Thérèse, Rosemère and Laval.
Whether for a family Grand Caravan or an AWD Charger, we adapt the financing to your reality. Even with an imperfect credit file, we have solutions: take stock with our bad credit financing program, or estimate your monthly payment in seconds with the BonAuto calculator.
Our Dodge inspection pays particular attention to the Pentastar V6 or the HEMI V8 depending on the model, the transmission, the AWD system (Charger, Durango) and the Stow 'n Go mechanism on the Grand Caravan.
